This Edwardian House is one of the earlier houses with a large garden built along a private road. Witnessing a journey through time, the house had undergone a few alterations over the years – particularly a rear kitchen extension and ‘a turret’ to accommodate a bathroom at the first floor level. Our brief was to look at options to create a large family kitchen dining space, whilst improving the remaining internal layout and adding an entrance lobby and a downstairs shower room.
Planning approval was granted for a full-width kitchen dining extension overlooking a new terrace and the garden. The extra space in the rear bedroom is created by ‘pulling out’ the central gable over the new ground floor extension providing much-needed space and natural light. A new side entrance lobby was created using the original feature entrance door and a shower room just behind it. The extension also created a much need space for a side rear entrance for the much-loved family dogs into the utility room.
Throughout the renovation, original features such as fireplaces and stained glass windows were carefully preserved and restored, maintaining the house’s architectural integrity
