The project, led by a skilled architect in Bagshot, involves the refurbishment and extension of a typical 4-bed detached house in Bagshot, Surrey. The house sits on a large corner plot. The rear extension is part two-storey and part one-storey. At ground level, the extension facilitates the creation of a new family room and an open-plan kitchen and dining area, fostering a seamless connection to the garden. This design approach emphasizes a contemporary aesthetic while maximizing space and natural light.
The approach is to combine with a contrasting modern single-storey kitchen dining extension, which opens to the garden. On the upper levels, all areas were re-planned to create a large master bedroom suite, enlarging two bedrooms with a family bathroom.
The open-plan nature, brightness, and connectivity of this space is achieved in its architectural detailing. Large corner glazed sliding doors and vertical timber boarding on the first floor contribute to a sleek and minimalist design aesthetic, complementing the existing structure while remaining subservient to its architectural prominence.
